About the Hub
The Insurtech Network Centre (INC) is a collaborative Insurance Innovation
Platform brought to you by South East Technological University (SETU) and
supported by Enterprise Ireland under the Government of Ireland Regional
Development Fund. The main objectives of INC are fostering collaboration
between Insurance Incumbents and Insurtech Start-ups, as well as facilitating
access to the Research & Innovation resources of SETU Kilkenny Road Campus in
Carlow for Insurance sector firms and developing Insurance focused training
and educational content.
Although based in Carlow INC has a national remit with a diverse and growing
panel of Insurers and Insurtech's based around the country and indeed
internationally. Aidan is keen to bridge the gap and foster collaboration
between Insurtech's, Industry and Academia and between theory and practice in
the area of start-up development.
The main objectives of INC are fostering collaboration between Insurance
Incumbents and Insurtech Start-ups via the INC accelerator, as well as
facilitating access to the Research & Innovation resources of South East
Technological University for Insurance sector firms and developing Insurance
focused training and educational content. This is a very strong proposition
for both Start-ups and Industry partners and we have been delighted with
Industry buy in to date.
INC in partnership with the Insurance industry will provide solutions to
challenges either poorly solved or not solved at all at present.
If you are an existing Insurance business and would like to explore how
INC will provide solutions to these challenges through innovation, or if
you are a business Founder/Start-up who would like to investigate how your
solution could be applied to Insurance sector challenges - please feel free to
contact us.

In Q4 2020 we secured funding for the Centre for Insurance, Risk and Data
Analytics Studies ( CIRDAS) a sector specific education development
centre funded through The Higher Education Authority, Human Capital
Initiative Pillar 3 (Innovation and Agility). The Centre is being
established by SETU in association with its collaborative and industry
partners and will develop and deliver courses under the three broad discipline
pillars specifically Data Science, Business and Design Thinking (from
Masterclass to Level 9 Special Award). CIRDAS was developed by Insurtech
Network Centre, the Faculty of Lifelong Learning both at SETU
(formerly Institute of Technology Carlow) and our collaborative partner ATU
Donegal Letterkenny.
Announced as part of Budget 2019, the primary objective of the Human Capital
Initiative (HCI) is to underpin the provision of additional capacity across
the higher education sector to meet priority skill needs for enterprise.
CIRDAS will align innovation and agility with national strategic objectives,
best practice in new course development and delivery product in consultation
with industry and education professionals at the forefront of the most
exciting developments in insurance and education. Consequently, a
comprehensive background in Insurance is required, as is a passion for
education and innovative delivery methods / certification ( i.e. Micro
Credentialing, Europass Framework, Blended / Hybrid Learning Models, Lifelong
Learning ).
The Institutes collaborative partners in CIRDAS are the Insurtech Network
Centre and Letterkenny Institute of Technology. The Insurtech Network
Centre will act as a conduit and an enabler to source help and support in all
areas from existing bodies and institutions located in the country and further
afield. Letterkenny Institute of Technology is a critical component of the
education landscape and is the collaborative Higher Education Institute
partner in the development of CIRDAS.
